The UVA Physicians Group's Commitment to the Community
The UVA Physicians Group realizes the importance of giving back; volunteerism strengthens our ties to the community. Employees participate in many volunteer efforts through the United Way Day of Caring to include the Ronald McDonald House, Camp Holiday Trails, the Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital and local schools.
Our employees also support the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic in Wise, VA through the collection of medical, school and household items. Physicians Group employees volunteer as staff members for the three-day clinic, providing nursing and administrative support.
Each year, the UVA Physicians Group participates in fundraising efforts to support charities in our community. An employee committee chooses which local organizations to assist. The Physicians Group supports many charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army, Jefferson Area Board for the Aging, Shelter for Help in Emergency, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the UVA Children’s Miracle Network, Thomas Jefferson Food Bank and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Each year, the Physicians Group Governing Team selects employees to receive awards based on their outstanding service to our mission and to the community.
